Tarot de Marseille Dodal 78 cards- Edition
Tarot de Marseille Dodal 78 cards- Edition
Kartograme offers here a qualitative and accessible edition of the Tarot of Jean Dodal, one of the major works among the oldest Tarots of Marseille in France.
The images have not been modified or redrawn. Only the colors have been revived to find the hue and brightness of the original pigments (indigo, buckthorn yellow, bladder green, cinnabar red, etc.)
78 cards from the original images of the British Museum
Jean Dodal is a carpenter referenced in the city of Lyon in France in 1701.
At the time, the images were printed like prints: a woodcut (printing of paper on an engraved and inked wooden board) with stencil coloring. The origin of these images is mysterious and no one knows the precise identity of the engraver. There is a strong resemblance to the images of the Tarot of Jean Payen 1713 and the Tarot of Vachier 1639
