Maintenance of handcrafted games

Kartograme games are created using paper carefully selected from national library suppliers for their longevity: acid-free, with an alkaline charge, they all meet the ISO 9706 standard.

To best preserve your Kartograme games, always keep them away from humidity in a dry and well-ventilated environment (commonly between 40 and 60% humidity).

The surface of the cards is slippery thanks to a durable surface treatment applied to the stone. In the event of heavy use of the game, it is possible to revive this treatment using the maintenance kit supplied with our handcrafted games from July 2024.

Manual:

On a flat surface, place a craft card on a white sheet.

Your handmade card does not have illumination:

  • Apply the soap to the surface of the card without pressing too hard (too hard = the color of the nails changes under the effect of pressure).
  • Place the cotton wick in the burlap bag and slide the bag over the surface of the card to remove excess soap.
  • Take out the cotton wick and slide it over the surface of the card to finish smoothing.
  • Repeat the operation on the back of the card.

Your handmade card has illumination, which makes it more fragile for this maintenance operation:

  • Apply the soap to the surface of the card without pressing.
  • Slide the cotton wick over the surface of the card to smooth it without pressing.
  • Repeat the operation on the back of the card (even if the back of the card is not illuminated, repeat exactly the same process to preserve the illumination).
